Phil Robson has a background in tourism, adventure promotions and web development. He is also an experienced rugby player and coach having represented national and provincial teams.

Louise Smith

Tour Coordinator

Louise Smith has worked in the travel industry for many years and has a wealth of experience in this multi-faceted field. She helps construct our tour packages, working one-on-one with clients to customise their itineraries and is an expert in attending to detail.

Taiwanese Liaison

Stephen is Taiwanese national now living in New Zealand. He is a fluent speaker of English and Mandarin. While Stephen has not played rugby himself he has become an ardent follower of the game and now supports his son playing rugby at Christchurch Boys High School. Stephen is a successful businessman and currently operates a fleet of 12 buses. He travels often, both to Taiwan and China, and is well experienced in the travel industry. For our Taiwanese sports and rugby friends Stephen is a welcoming and hospitable member of our Total Rugby staff.

Grant Hansen

Grant Hansen

Northern Area Manager

Grant Hansen is the Total Rugby operations manager for the Auckland and lower North Island region. Grant is based in Auckland and has an intimate knowledge of the rugby scene in this part of New Zealand. He has coached for many years at Division 1 club and schoolboy level (NZ Secondary Schools coach 2007-08). He understands what players and staff want and has the connections to get it.

Thomas Stewart

Thomas Stewart

West Coast Regional Coordinator

Thomas Stewart is a ‘Coaster’ through and through. His allegiance to rugby and to the Buller RFC are legendary. From 1984 to 1999 Thomas racked up 170+ games for the Buller Union, which is still a record. His other records include the most tries in a season, and match and for Buller, in total. He has also played for the West Coast rep team, combined West Coast/Buller and Seddon Shields team. He toured North America with the NZ Youth Under 21 side. His coaching history includes Westport RFC and he was the Regional Development Officer for the West Coast for 3 years. He now owns a restaurant at Carters Beach just out of Westport and is a master whitebaiter on the Buller river. Given the right encouragement he may even cook you a feed! Thomas helps Total Rugby provide the ultimate NZ Heartland experience.


Kees Meeuws

Kees Meeuws

Otago Regional Coordinator

Kees has played 42 tests for the All Blacks between 1998 and 2004, scoring 10 test tried. Has has played provincial rugby for Otago (during the 2011 season) and Auckland and played for the Blues in Super 12. His match stats amount to 80 Super 12 games, 40+ for Otago and 19 for Auckland. Kees is a diehard Otago rugby man now and has moved with his family to Dunedin. He is highly regarded in the South and his club Southern, are welcoming hosts for any overseas teams.
